Mrs Pack

By Camden Fringe

Who was Mrs Pack? This new musical tells the little-known story of a real wet-nurse, who turned the royal household upside down.
July 1689. After many pregnancies, Princess Anne finally gives birth to a son who survives beyond a few hours. But the young prince is unable to feed. An urgent call goes out to the nation: whose milk can save the heir to the throne? This award-winning musical by Nia Williams shows women at the heart of power — but ultimately powerless.
Produced by multi-award-winning theatre company Three Chairs and a Hat, Mrs Pack made its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe — here’s a sample of the feedback for that production:
‘Beautiful … bright and lively but very moving’ — FairyPowered Productions
‘Entertaining, profoundly moving and thought-provoking’ … ‘Excellent new writing that tells a previously unheard story’ … ‘Superb … my standout show of the Fringe’— Edinburgh Fringe website feedback
The filmed Edinburgh performance was an Official Selection at the Montreal Women Film Festival 2023

Etcetera Theatre, Oxford Arms, 265 Camden High Street
